The support we offer is shaped by you
Your Support
We believe that every individual has the right to live an independent and rewarding life while feeling safe and supported. Dawson Housing’s operation is based on enabling people to have genuine choice in where and how they live by creating accommodation options and by supporting people with additional needs to access accommodation available in the community.
We work in partnership with Creating Change Housing Management who provide intensive housing management support to help you with managing and maintaining your tenancy.
Your Support Worker
Within the first three days of you moving in you will discuss and agree any support needs with your designated support worker. This meeting will help you decide what your goals are whist you are a tenant here.
Your support worker will provide contact details so you can get in touch 24 hours a day.
Although you have a designated support worker you will also work closely with the housing officer as they will provide advice and guidance in relation to your rent payment and any repair issues.
Your Support Plan
The support we offer is shaped by you. A support plan can help you to decide what your goals are, who will help you to achieve these and who to contact if you have any difficulties or need advice.
Every person that is accepted by the service works with his or her support worker to agree a support plan. You will also have one to one meetings with your support worker on a weekly basis. This is your opportunity to discuss any concerns that you have about your progress or the support you are receiving.
Room and Building Checks
For licence agreement holders, your accommodation will be checked regularly both to see if any repairs are needed and that you are keeping your room in good order.
Staff should give you 24 hours’ notice of their intention to check your room. Although staff have the right to enter your room at any time, staff will not normally enter your room except for room checks. Two important exceptions to that are if staff fear for the safety of a rooms occupant or there is need to enter the room to affect an emergency repair. By signing your License Agreement, you have agreed to co-operate with this.
For all properties, weekly, monthly, and annual health and safety checks will be completed.
House rules
As part of your welcome pack you will be provided with clear guidance to help to maintain a safe and pleasant environment for everyone. It is important for all of Dawson’s residents to be aware of the behaviour we cannot not accept. We take all issues of antisocial behaviour (ASB) extremely seriously and have robust policies and procedures in place to manage instances of ASB.
If you need to report any issues of ASB please contact us on 0333 366 115
Your Accommodation
Dawson Housing offers a mixture of fully furnished shared room and self-contained properties. Our insurance does not cover your personal belongings, so we encourage you to take your own insurance to cover this.
