DAWSON EXECUTIVE TEAM

Amer Ijaz – Chief Executive

Amer is an experienced leader with an impressive history of working in charity, community and social housing sector for over 20 years. He has extensive experience of senior leadership across the public and voluntary sectors, having previously been appointed as CEO for a large registered social landlord.

He prides himself on giving back through charities, having started off as a volunteer for over 15 years and actively fundraising for domestic and large international projects throughout his career.

Amer’s heart and mind have always been driven by the ability to help make a difference to the most vulnerable in society, with a passion to change lives through and empathetic and ethical approach. Through his experience of working with some the best leaders and ethical organisations, he has had the opportunity to understand the importance of governance and compliance and how these areas benefit organisations and, importantly, beneficiaries of services.

Through Amer’s career, he has demonstrated a profound understanding of the governance and compliance responsibilities required of a Board and organisation. His appreciation for good governance practices is evident in his interactions and the strategies and policies he has implemented. One of Amer’s significant strengths is to establish effective teams through an effective executive leadership style. He has carefully selected and mentored a team of leaders who share his vision and commitment. Amer is a highly capable and dedicated leader who has made substantial contributions to organisations he has worked in. His strategic vision, governance expertise, and ability to foster positive relationships with stakeholders make him an invaluable asset to Dawson Housing.


Alice Agyepong

Alice is the Director of Governance and Compliance and the Association’s Company Secretary.  Her remit covers corporate governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, HR, data protection and board member services.

Prior to joining Dawson, Alice was part of the senior management Team at Arhag housing, acting as strategic governance lead and overseeing regulatory compliance.

Alice began her governance career with Genesis Housing, based in London, where she played a pivotal role in helping the association through a successful HCA In-Depth Assessment, leading to a G1 governance rating. She is committed to leading Dawson in developing high-level governance frameworks. 

Alice has a background in social security law and welfare reform, holds an LLB Law degree, masters in corporate governance and is an ICSA qualified company secretary.  


Neetu Aggarwal

Neetu is the Head of Finance at Dawson Housing and brings in over 10 years’ experience of working within different sectors. Neetu has an MBA in Finance and is a qualified ACCA.

In her previous role Neetu spearheaded setting up finance systems and processes in a start-up asset finance business, focussing on value creation and long-term growth. Neetu is committed to driving and developing robust financial systems and processes at Dawson, driving improvements and delivering sustainable financial growth. 

NON EXECUTIVE BOARD

Neil Thorneycroft

Neil is a chartered certified accountant with an extensive background in social housing and finance. Having gained a solid 40 years career in finance, Neil has previously sat on the National Housing Federations Finance Panel.

Neil currently serves on the Board at Ability Housing and the leading mental health charity Mind in Newport. Neil brings an array of skills and expertise to the Board in areas such as strategy, governance, finance, risk management, compliance, change management, leadership and strategy. Neil also has a MBA.


Mohammad Sajjid Sarwar

Sajjid has over 24 years of leadership experience in the social housing, education and charity sectors. Sajjid has gained extensive experience as Chairman and as a governance professional with a proven record of success across multiple industries.

He brings expertise in Governance, strategic planning and leadership, developing corporate governance policies, risk management and driving team performances. Sajjid career spans both the private and public sectors.

Sajjid’s is currently the chair of Global Aid Care an international humanitarian aid agency and is the Director of Ionic housing group ltd concentrating on property acquisitions and development, Ittihad leadership and management ltd, Greater Manchester FC Foundation CIC and Greater Manchester sports clubs ltd.


Colin Murphy

Colin Murphy has gained extensive experience in the supported housing sector. As the Owner Director of Real Housing Partners Ltd, he has demonstrated a strong capability in developing specialized supported housing solutions.

His volunteer work as Head of Housing for The Jade Mutua Foundation Trust underscores his commitment to advancing the supported housing sector. With a background as a Senior Development Manager at Pivotal Homes Group, Colin has a proven track record of creating new business opportunities and expanding housing services. His expertise is further enriched by his deep knowledge of Autism-specific care, gained through his work with AACE and Vale of Evesham School. Colin's leadership skills are evidenced by his success in managing teams, achieving high occupancy rates, and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders across the sector.

His qualifications include NVQ 4 in Housing Practice CIH and NVQ 4 in Autism, making him well-equipped to contribute as a non-executive director for Dawson Housing.


Rabina Begum

Rabina Begum is a ACCA qualified Accountant , specialising in finance and auditing, She has previously worked with the Audit Commission, auditing local authorities.

Rabina is head of finance with Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and Bangladeshi Womens Association, she has vast amount of experience in preparing grant claims and working with the local government . She has experience in the care industry , having worked as finance director for a group of care homes.
